The NSCCAU Supports Education Workers in Canada
By using the notwithstanding clause to impose a new contract, the Ford government of Ontario is stripping workers of their constitutional right to free collective bargaining.
Ford's Bill 124 had already severely limited education workers’ right to bargain by capping wage increases. The Ford government is punishing these workers by using the notwithstanding clause to trample over people’s rights to pass back-to-work legislation to force a contract that wasn’t negotiated.
This dangerous precedent is an attack on all workers and cannot go unchallenged.
As a union, we support the workers of the South Shore Regional Centre for Education (NSGEU Local 70), and the Ontario school workers in their fight for fair and equitable compensation.
When you can, we encourage you to join education workers on a picket line in a show of solidarity for all union workers in Canada.
In Solidarity,
The NSCCAU Executive Team
