What We Do

When workers unite, they make things better for everyone.

About Us

The Nova Scotia Community College Academic Union (NSCCAU) was established on July 1, 2018 and represents Faculty and Professional Support Staff at the NSCC. Prior to 2018, our members belonged to the Nova Scotia Teachers Union (NSTU). On August 1, 2023, the union rebranded and is now known as the Atlantic Academic Union (AAU).

NSCC is a modern post-secondary institution with five Academic Schools located in sixteen towns across Nova Scotia offering quality education in Health, Trades, Technology & Applied Arts, Business and Adult Learning. Its faculty and professional support are chosen from industry.

“I am new to working with the NSCCAU and I have learned so much! Working with the amazing executive we currently have in place and seeing all their hard work in support of our members gives me hope for the future of NSCC and our students. We were so in need of a professional union that understands the passion we all have for teaching, learning, students and the need for provincial response to education in Nova Scotia. Hope is restored.”

We represent and advocate for the rights of NSCC Faculty and Professional Support Staff. We are governed by a Board Executive and Campus Representatives and have two full-time staff that support the work of our Board.

We work diligently to best serve our members and ensure that we are representing them to the best of our abilities. We love hearing from our members to discuss their circumstances. Contact us today to connect with one of our helpful staff members.
