Negotiation Mandate Voting Results

Dear members,

The results of your negotiation mandate vote are in and NSCCAU members have voted overwhelmingly in support of the mandate, which gives a defined period of negotiation with our employer, with a strike deadline of January 15, 2024.

Ninety-seven (97%) voted in favour of a negotiation mandate. This mandate will give our collective bargaining committee strength as we commence the first phase of negotiations.

As a result, we will move forward with a 5-month deadline for contract negotiations based on industry norms. This means we will give Management notice to start negotiations in the summer and we are willing to work vacations, weekends, and evenings with a goal to conclude negotiations by our strike deadline.  If we reach an impasse, we will take the necessary steps such as conciliation and strike vote to ensure any labour action takes place at a strategic time.

On behalf of the NSCCAU, we are grateful and appreciative of this strong endorsement you have given us and we are energized by this powerful vote!  We will keep you updated as the process unfolds as we work towards negotiating a fair & equitable agreement with our employer.

Thanks everyone for your support!
