The NSCCAU’s statement on Ukraine

Statement from the NSCCAU Executive Team on the situation in the Ukraine

The NSCCAU stands united with the people of Ukraine and with all those affected by recent events in eastern Europe. This includes faculty and professional support, as well as the broader Canadian community. We are deeply disturbed by these terrible events and acts of violence.

In support, the NSCCAU will be modifying our website logo and feature the blue and yellow colours that represent the country, to honour the Ukrainian community at large.

May a resolution to this devastating situation come swiftly.

The College has partnered with both NSCCAU and NSGEU to advance NSCC’s Mental Health & Wellness Strategy. If you are experiencing any distress, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

For faculty and professional support staff:

·         Employee and family assistance support (EFAP) - Resources and supports for you and your immediate family members from Workhealthlife, including short-term counselling, webinars, articles and a Crisis Support Line (1-844-751-2133) available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

·         MindBeacon is a confidential mental health support service, available for all term, probationary, and continuing employees, and their dependents (age 16+), regardless of whether you are member of an NSCC health plan.

·         Online medical services - Available to employees through a partnership between Medavie Blue Cross and a leading virtual health care provider at a reduced rate.

·         For NSCC students, as a post-secondary student in Nova Scotia, they have access to Good2Talk, a 24/7/365 free and confidential helpline. Call 1-833-292-3698 to talk, or text GOOD2TALKNS to 686868. Learn more about Good2Talk.
