NSCCAU Stands Against Racism
The NSCCAU stands united against racism, discrimination, and oppression in all its forms. The Union recognizes the existence of systemic racism in our society. We stand in solidarity with our African Nova Scotian members, our Indigenous members, our members from all Racialized groups, and with all people working to dismantle systems that sustain discrimination in Canada.
We will:
Educate ourselves about how to be effective, respectful allies, and how to speak up and not speak over
Educate our staff, our Executive and our Reps on recognizing anti-black and anti-indigenous racism
Use our website and our meetings to promote organizations and resources that stand against racism (see links below)
Collect and share resources to educate our membership
Establish a designated Union Executive position to ensure Black, Indigenous, and Racialized representation on the Executive and on Union Committees. This position will have a substantive role in the development and leadership of our Union.
It is time for all of us to show up, speak up, and act.
