NSCCAU Newsletter - Fall 2020

Dear Members,

This summer has been a busy one. Whether you have spent your summer prepping for fall, or working to ensure everything at the College runs smoothly, we hope you were able to take some time to rejuvenate.

For those of you who are new to our Union, welcome. Please reach out to your campus Reps, or to a Member of the Executive should need assistance. Our contact information is on the nsccau.ca website. There are also copies of the NSCCAU Constitution, the Bylaws, the current collective agreements, workload complaint documents, and information on union discounts.

A few major things that have occurred this summer:

  1. We issued notice to the College to commence collective bargaining. Dates have been set at the end of September to exchange asking packages. Once this occurs, we will share what we can with the Union Reps who will share the information with you.

  2. We have filed a number of grievances this summer. One in particular is with respect to flexible vacation days for faculty.

  3. We will be sending out information in September with respect to some proposed changes to the Bylaws. These changes will be discussed and voted on at the General Meeting this fall.

  4. Our website is undergoing some updates this fall, including a Members Only Portal, which we will use to share information with all Members.

We are heading into a unique and challenging fall. Please remember that you must take care of both your physical and mental health. If you are overwhelmed with your workload, speak out. Talk to your manager or Academic Chair. Contact your Campus Reps, or the VP’s of your Union. Nothing will change, nothing will improve, if you stay silent.

Remember, we are to here to support each other. Here are some specific contacts you may need:
